My 8 tips for beautiful wedding photos!

Your wedding is the event of a lifetime, so here are a few tips to help you choose your photographer, but also to tell you about the little details that we don't necessarily think about, but that make all the difference for this memorable day.

1-The unplugged marriage

What is an unplugged wedding? It's a wedding where, during the ceremony, guests are forbidden cameras, phones or other electronic devices so they can take time to enjoy the moment. Also, for all photographers, it's a big challenge when your aunt steps into the aisle to take pictures of the bride as she arrives. It is now very common for guests to be asked not to take pictures or video during the ceremony. Many put it on the invitations, others put a sign at the entrance where the ceremony is taking place to advise the guests.

2-There is no such thing as too much detail

It is during the preparations of the bride and groom that I take the opportunity to take pictures of all the little details that you have meticulously chosen. From the bride's dress to the groomsmen's buttonholes, the wedding rings, the bouquets, the jewelry, the shoes and the clothes, there is no such thing as too many details. It's all those little details that personalize your wedding. And for me, this is my favorite part of the day. Some people take advantage of this moment in the preparations to give a gift to the parents, the boys and the bridesmaids. Others display their dress on a beautiful stand. I love it when the stands are personalized with the names of the bride and her friends. Just let your creativity flow.

3-Make a list of group photos to your photographer

After the ceremony, it's usually time for group photos. I always ask for a list for the group photos that my clients give me a few days before the wedding. This allows me to be efficient, to know the wishes of my clients and especially to not forget anyone when the time comes. If you absolutely want to have certain people in your photos, it is very important to warn your photographer. By preparing your list beforehand, you can enjoy your wedding without worrying.

4-The 2nd photographer

When looking for your future photographer, ask if there is a second photographer on the day. Sometimes there can be an extra charge, but it is definitely worth it. I highly recommend it as this way both photographers cover more angles during the day and capture more important moments of your beautiful day.

5-Natural light

Photographers love natural light. Light is where the magic of photography comes from. Think about your photographer when you choose the location for your ceremony, reception and preparations. Notice the ambient light. There is no escaping it, often reception halls are dark and we have to work with flash. If you want a beautiful ambiance, add lights everywhere, not only on the ceiling, but on the walls!

6-Rainy wedding, happy wedding.

If part of your wedding is outdoors, always have a plan b in case of rain. If you're planning umbrellas, opt for neutral colors like a black, white or clear umbrella. In photos, the color of the umbrella affects the skin color of the people under it. And most importantly, dare to take pictures in the rain!

7-The first look

Have you heard of the first look? Very popular in the last few years, it is a concept that does not fit the traditional wedding. The first look is a couple's photo session scheduled before the ceremony that allows the bride and groom to see each other for the first time that day. The reactions are captured during this very intimate moment and the emotions are always there. I love to suggest it to my brides and grooms because it allows them to take their couple pictures before the stress of the guests and the hustle and bustle of the day which always goes by too fast. If you are getting married in winter, I strongly recommend it so that the natural light is still present during your couple photos.

8-Fall in love... with your photographer

There are as many choices of photographers as there are choices of dresses. Would you choose a dress that is not your style just because it is cheaper? I guess not. The same goes for your photographer. I recommend looking at the portfolio before the price. I understand that there is a budget to meet, but at the end of the day, all you will have left are your memories, your photos and your videos. You must have a crush on your photographer, just as you must have a crush on your dress. There are two main categories of photographers: traditional and lifestyle. The traditional photographer will have more classic poses, generally looking at the camera and the background in focus. The lifestyle photographer will cover the day and take candid shots of key moments of the day. It is important to also look at the aesthetics of the photos. Do you like brightly colored photos or do you prefer more contrasting effects. This will play into your final choice.

That's it! Those were my little tips for your wedding photos. And above all, take the time to have fun on your day. Enjoy every moment. The day will go by quickly. Leave the stress at home and let us immortalize this precious moment in your life!
